All the Resources You Need for Your Indian Passport.

If you are applying for a Passport and need help on how to get started, here is the complete procedure to get your passport:

 

Step 1: Open Passport India website and register ‘User Id’ and assign a ‘Password’. This is a compulsory step for each and every individual that wishes to apply for a Passport, regardless of whether they want to fill the form online or offline.

Step 2: Log in using your ‘User Id’ and ‘Password’.

Step 3: There are two methods for applying for passport:

 (Tip: The Official Passport India website recommends using Alternative 2.

Even we advise the same as Alternative 2 is simpler than Alternative 1)

Alternative (METHOD) 1 – eForm: This method does not require an active internet connection while you are filling the form, you need an internet connection to download a file, then you can fill the form without internet, and once you have filled the form, you need an internet connection to upload the filled form back.

Note: The printed copy of the eForm will not be accepted at PSK/RPO (Passport Seva Kendra / Regional Passport Office).

 

Alternative (METHOD) 2 – Online Form: This method requires you to have an active internet connection while you are filling the form, but it is always possible to leave it in between and save the form while editing, enabling you to continue filling the form, from where you had left it earlier.

Step 4: Now take an appointment to visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (appointments are released region-wise). It is advised that the citizen should be ready with step ‘1’ to ‘3’ above before the ‘appointment release time’.

 

Note : Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs). Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes:

  • Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard & Visa)
  • Internet Banking (State Bank of India(SBI) and Associate Banks Only)
  • SBI Bank Challan

 

Step 5: Take printout of Application Reference Number (ARN) and visit the PSK at the given appointment Date/Time along with a copy of the printed ARN.

 

Step 6: Visit the Passport Seva Kendra with requisite original documents and their photocopies. Photograph is not required.

Step 7: After completing these 6 easy steps your passport will be dispatched within

4 weeks after police verification in case of NORMAL APPLICATION

3 days in case of TATKAAL  APPLICATION where prior police verification has been done.
