Step 1: Register ‘User Id’ and assign a ‘Password’

If you are applying for the normal passport, choose option “Passport Office”.
The “CPV Delhi” option is for Diplomatic and Official Passports at CPV (Consular, Passport and Visa) division, Delhi.
According to your Present Residential Address, choose the Passport Office closest to you.
Given Name: Enter your given name (first name + middle name). You can enter up to 45 characters. Initials and honorifics (e.g. Dr., Col., etc.) are not allowed.
Surname: Enter your surname (Last Name). You can enter up to 45 characters.
Date of Birth: Enter your date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY i.e. Date/Month/Year) as mentioned in the birth certificate issued by Municipal/ Government authorities. You may select date from the calendar.
E-mail Id: Enter the Email Id that you want to use for receiving passport related emails from passportindia.gov.in (Passport Website).
Choose whether you want to use your E-mail Id as Login Id for passportindia.gov.in (Passport Website). It’s easier to use it as that way you don’t have to remember a separate Login Id for the Passport Website, every time you login, you can just use your E-mail ID.
If in the above option, you chose YES, skip to the next step, if you chose not to use you E-mail Id as your Login Id, then you will have to enter some Login Id for passportindia.gov.in (Passport Website).
Password: Enter a Password for your passportindia.gov.in (Passport Website) account. It is compulsory that your passport contains:
i. One digit (number – 0 to 9)
ii. One lowercase (small) alphabet (any letter from a to z)
iii. One UPPERCASE (CAPITAL) alphabet (any letter from A to Z)
eg. The password “Kabeer123” satisfies all three conditions as there’s one uppercase letter, “K”, more than one lowercase letter, “abeer”, and more than one digit, “123”.
Confirm Password: After entering the suitable Password in the password field (box), you need to enter it again in this field (box).
Hint Question: Choose one question from the drop-down menu for your Hint Question. In case you ever forget the password to login to your account, this is used to recover the password and access the account.
Tip: Choose an easy question, the answer to which you can remember easily, as no one can misuse it, when you reset the password using the Hint Question it is still sent to you by email, which only you can access.
Hint Answer: Enter an answer for the Hint Question you chose above.
Enter Characters Displayed: Enter the letters and numbers from the image in the box below. If you are unable to understand the characters, you can click on “Change the picture displayed” below the image.
Click on Register.
Registration Confirmation: Congratulations! If you see the screen like the one below, your account has been created, to activate it you need to go the next step. You have to activate your account within a week of registration.
Open your Email Id and open the mail with the subject “Registration Confirmation” from the email Id email@example.com.
Click on the link at the bottom of that email to activate your account. This needs to be done within a week of creating your account on passportindia.gov.in (Passport Website).
