Chip-enabled e-Passport Rollout Begins in India

MEA began issuing e-passports with embedded chips at select Passport Seva Kendras.
India's chip-based e-Passport was introduced in phases from 2024, starting at select Passport Offices.
The chip stores the holder's biometric and personal data to improve security and speed up immigration checks.
