MEA: All New Passports Will Be e-Passports; GPSP V2.0 Live Abroad

Nationwide rollout of PSP V2.0 and e-Passports announced; existing passports stay valid until expiry.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced the nationwide rollout of PSP V2.0 and e-Passports. The Global Passport Seva Programme (GPSP V2.0) went live at Indian missions abroad on 28 October 2025.
The Ministry said all new passports issued will be electronic (with an embedded chip) and existing passports remain valid until expiry.
