New PAN Application Forms 93, 94, 95 and 96 Replace Forms 49A and 49AA from 1 April 2026
Published 1 Apr 2026 · Last updated 1 Apr 2026

Fresh PAN applications on or after 1 April 2026 must use the new forms under the Income-tax Rules, 2026.
With the Income-tax Act, 2025 and Income-tax Rules, 2026 coming into force on 1 April 2026, four new forms (93, 94, 95 and 96) replace the old Forms 49A and 49AA for fresh PAN applications. They are chosen by applicant category (individual or non-individual, Indian or foreign); Form 93 is the one used by individual Indian citizens.
The Income Tax Department's FAQs state that PAN applications pending on 31 March 2026 remain valid and existing PAN/TAN numbers are not affected; the new forms are only for fresh applications on or after 1 April 2026.
Applicants should keep identity, address and date-of-birth proof ready, and make sure the name matches Aadhaar.
