PAN Allotted on Aadhaar Enrolment ID Became Inoperative from 1 Jan 2026 if Aadhaar Not Intimated

The 31 Dec 2025 deadline for enrolment-ID PAN holders ended; unlinked PANs turned inoperative.
A CBDT notification of 3 April 2025 required people whose PAN was allotted using an Aadhaar enrolment ID (applications before 1 October 2024) to intimate their Aadhaar number by 31 December 2025, or a later notified date.
Where this was not done, the PAN became inoperative from 1 January 2026, which affects filing and verifying returns, refunds and some financial transactions. The usual route to make it operative again is linking with Aadhaar on the e-filing portal and paying the prescribed fee (reported as ₹1,000).
